I’m excited to read this new report about how LGBT families are affected by archaic family law.
I have mixed feelings about marriage as a personal matter, but I’ve always been a big supporter of fighting the marriage fight. In recent years, though, it’s been frustrating to see little focus from state and national LGBT groups on changing parenting laws, especially for those of us living in states with little or no chance of equal parenting recognition.
I understand it’s a tough battle, but I hate the feeling that we’re just kind of limping along out here, placing our bets on a big Supreme Court decision in favor of marriage equality–one that may never arrive. It’s good to see a major project put forward to spark conversations about LGBT families that’s not just a quiet subsidiary of the marriage debate.
